James Stewart enjoys a laugh during a break in filming for the perennial Christmas favourite, Frank Capra’s 1946 It’s a Wonderful Life.

Despite being set in snowy Bedford Falls on Christmas Eve, the scene where Stewart’s character, George Bailey, contemplates suicide on bridge, was actually shot on a back lot in heat over 30ºC (90ºF).
